Zoom-In-View

Pictured above is Trey Bozeman (son of MBA Area Director D.R. Bozeman) of Flora, MS. Pictured below is Trey's cousin Swayze Bozeman (son of MBA member Harvey Bozeman;also from Flora, MS). Trey and Swayze (1st cousins) took these two bucks with bows just minutes apart on the afternoon of October 19, 2011 while bowhunting at Bozeman Farms at Flora. Trey's buck was a nice 8 point but not as good as he first thought. His dad, D.R., said Trey was a little down because "of the ground shrinkage", but it was a fine buck, one I wish I could have taken with a bow when I was 15. It's a nice buck." Trey's equipment included a Mathews Extreme bow, Gold Tip Arrows, and a 100 grain two blade Rage Broadhead.

Congratulations to both Trey and Swayze Bozeman (and D.R. and Harvey as well) and thanks for sharing your good fortune with our bowhunting community.

The following is Swayze's personal account of his afternoon bowhunt at Bozeman's farm in Flora, MS.

"My buck came out of some weeds at about 200 yards away from my stand. At first, I thought it was a shooter 9 point I had seen before. So, I looked at him through the leaves of a tree with my binoculars and saw that he had a drop tine. So, I texted my dad about it. When I could see him clearly with my binoculars I saw how big he was. So, I stated praying and praying that this deer would come to me. With him was about 4 other bucks and a doe. The doe was about to be on top of me when this big buck scared a smaller buck and it scared the doe off. Then, this really nice 10 point came to about 20 yards and I thought about shooting him. Then, I saw how big this deer was so I made up my mind that I wasn't going to shoot the 10 point. So, this big buck comes to about 30 yards and I'm thinking if he gets to about 25 yards I will take the shot. He starts walking away but then he turns to me and gets at 25 yards. So, I wait for him to get broadside and when he did I drew on him, I aimed, and I took the shot. He ran away with the arrow in him and I started thanking Jesus for such an opportunity. We waited awhile before looking for him and when we went there was no sign of blood. Finally, we found one drop that lead us to him. We definitely couldn't of done it without Jesus and our awesome dog Clifford".

Swayze's big buck had amazing stats, including the drop tine and thick mass on the opposite beam. It had 16 scoreable points and a total circumference measurement just short of 47 inches. It gross measured 161 3/8 inches. Swayze's equipment included a Mission Archery Craze by Mathews (24" draw, 50 .lb draw weight), Gold Tip Velocity Hunter 500 spine arrow and a Muzzy 100 grain MX3 broadhead.

Congratulations to both Trey and Swayze Bozeman (and D.R. and Harvey as well) and thanks for sharing your good fortune with our bowhunting community.
