Mississippi Bowhunter Association Life Member and MBA Web Master, Joe R. Bumgardner, M.D. of Starkville, MS took this quality mature Pronghorn Antelope buck on the morning of the 2nd day of the Nebraska Pronghorn 2011 season (8-21-2011) while bowhunting at Ash Creek Outfitters just on the outskirts of Chadron, Nebraska. Dr. Bumgardner took a broadside 47 yard shot and observed his buck go down in 7 seconds only 70 yards from the point of impact. He was hunting an Alfalfa field and was located in a Primos/Double Bull Archery/Ground Max Ground Blind. His buck had a left 13 6/8 inch main beam and a right 14 inch main beam and complimentary great cutters. He was 3 1/2 years old and his live weight was ~150 pounds. Dr. Bumgardner's arrow made a slightly quartering toward impact shot passing through both lungs, the left shoulder blade and transected the aorta from the heart. Dr. Bumgardner's equipment included a Mathews Tactical 28 inch bow, Beman Hunter 400 Carbon arrows , 100 grain Hell-Razor broadheads, Viper Fiberoptic sight, and a SureShot Pro Whisker Biscuit arrow rest by Trophy Ridge. That is a great way to get the 2011-2012 bowhunting season started. A warm-hearted thanks goes to Boone and Nadine Huffman of Ash Creek Outfitters of Chadron, Nebraska for providing a great bowhunt and superb outfitter accommodations. Boone Huffman is once again donating a 5 day Pronghorn bowhunt for the 2012 season (that will be available for the live auction of the 2011 MBA Annual Banquet of August 27, 2011).
