Little Man...Hugh Buck!

Zoom-In-View

Nine year old Mason Murphey of Clarksdale Ms. took this huge whitetail on the second day of the 2010-2011 hunting season while hunting Ms river bottoms in Coahoma county. The buck was taken in the evening of Masons second bowhunt as a hunter and not a spectator. The deer was in transition from bedding to feeding areas and came down a trail that we had set a ground blind near. Mason shot the deer with his bear trophy II and an Easton arrow tipped with a Savora 85 grain broad head that his dad found on the clearance rack at Slaters in Indianola Ms.. Mason was able to get in a single lung/liver shot at just 10 steps from the ground blind. The huge buck traveled 175yds before he found his final resting place. The 8pt buck weighed near 270lbs and was scored 104 1/8 Buckmasters, just shy of making it into the book but a trophy that he and his dad will cherish forever. Mason recently returned from Tara Wildlife Summer camp where he beat out a fifteen year old archer in a shoot out for first place in the archery tournament.

Zoom-In-View

Pictured with Steve and holding a 'trophy' rattlesnake is Dr. Stephen Hathcock. That must have been a very memorable hunt.

Steve was using a Mathews Switchback bow, GoldTip XT arrows and 125 grain Rocket Buckblaster broadhead. Congratulations Steve on taking such a trophy animal and thanks for sharing your good fortune with our bowhunting community.
