(Page 4)

D.R. Bozeman of Flora, MS took this great buck and below is his own account of his bowhunting experience.

I got my best ever deer Friday moring. I had a doe come in close and I was going to shoot her before she got behind me and winded me. She spooked when I drew and ran off a ways and snorted a few times. She started working her way back to me trying to find out what made the strange sound. I just happened to look back in front of me and that is when I saw the buck. When he got in the open he was not as big as I first though, but it did not take me long to figure out that I was going to shoot this one. The buck turned broadside at about 23 yards and I put the pin on him and he moved... got back on him and he moved.... got back on him and let it fly. I figured he would move again but it was "now or never" The arrow made a good "thump" so I though he was hit ok. I thought I had just arrowed a 130" buck. I was wrong about that, he was a lot nicer than that. I let the deer "lay up" for about 2.5 hours and then put my 8 year old lab (D. R.'s Black River Joe) on the trail. He went farther than I thought the deer would go. I really thought "Joe" was off the trail. I am glad he follows his nose and not what I think. The deer scored 156 gross and 148 net. Spread 21.5" / Right beam 28" / left beam 27". It is my best ever (rifle, musket or bow)
