D.R. Bozeman related his harvest experience of this great 10 point buck in his own words. Please see D.R.'s discussion just to the right of this entry.

This buck came out at 4:15 pm and I had him at 50 yards for 15 minutes. He left chasing a doe but he did return about 5:10 pm.  He was at 80 yards grazing by a smaller buck.  With time running out I decided to try a grunt call.  I blew the call a few times until I got the attention of the small buck.  I grunted twice more and he came my way looking for the "buck" that made that sound.  The big buck decided to follow and investigate also.  When the small buck got near me he did not see any more deer but it look like he decided to check the rest of the plot while he was there.  Within minutes the big buck was standing right in front of me and he gave me a perfect broadside shot.  I was comfortable with my shot and when the arrow hit it sounded great, but when the buck left the food plot I saw a good bit of arrow shaft sticking out of his side.  I was concerned with my arrow penetration.  I climbed out of my tree and went back to camp.  We had company so we went out to eat and had a great steak dinner.  When we got back we put on our tracking clothes and got my lab, ( "D. R.'s Black River Joe").  We went to the plot and found where the deer had entered the woods.  We had good blood and I founnd my aroow broken off.  More of the arrow was in the deer than was out so I felt better about my shot.  I put "Joe" on the trail and he went right to the deer.  It had travled less than 100 yards.  The shot had hit perfect behind the shoulder but caught just enough bone to keep it from passing through.  The rest of the arrow and broadhead did work its way out about mid-rib on the opposite side.

Thanks,
D. R.
