Maturing Persimmons in Mississippi

The photo just below was taken while visiting Ellislie Plantation @ Sibley, Mississippi a couple of weeks before bowhunting season opened. This soft mast was just coming into maturity in most areas of Mississippi and a few persimmons were beginning to drop to the ground. There is no other naturally occurring food source for deer that is more cherished. If you can locate a persimmon tree that is productive of fruit like this you can rest assured that the deer will continue to visit daily. As a bowhunter, you would be wise to place your tree or ladder stand in the nearby vicinity and get ready for the action! It will surely come!

Maturing Persimmons from Ellislie Plantation, Sibley, MS.

Owner/manager J.H. James was gracious enough to allow me to witness an evening session of whitetail deer feeding in some of the cotton fields.During a 1 1/2 hour period, we observed a total of 41 deer entering the cotton fields and 2 of these deer were mature bucks in the 130 to 155 class range of P&Y scoring. They were magnificent animals. Ellislie Plantation has done a great job producing quality whitetails now available to be enjoyed/witnessed/harvested by bowhunters. If you are interested in a quality hunt with great accommodatons and an excellent opportunity to take a mature trophy whitetail, then you should give this option serious consideration.Ellislie Plantation Bowhunting Whitetail deer; a sportsman's ultimate challenge. It can be compared to stalking bonefish on the flats or lying in wait to cast your fly at a cruising tarpon. The intensity of being in close range of a mature Whitetail buck and making an accurate shot with a bow and arrow is a feeling like no other. Ellislie Plantation is now offering one of the most exciting and memorable archery hunting experiences the South has to offer!
