The Annual Mississippi Bowhunters Association Deer Hunt for 2008 will be combined with the 2008 Annual Hog Hunt.

This year's combined Deer and Hog Hunt will be held at Hillside National Wildlife Refuge ~ 16 miles northeast of Yazoo City, Mississippi in the heavy clay “Gumbo” soils of the South Delta. From Yazoo City, take MS Highway 49E toward Greenwood. The turnoff to Hillside NWR is ~ 16 miles from Yazoo, City. You may want to view/and/or/save a Map of Hillside National Wildlife Refuge. You can also download/save/and/print a 2008 Hunt Leaflet/Brochure of the Theodore Roosevelt National Wildlife Refuge Complex (Including Hillside NWR).

What: MBA 2008 Annual Deer/Hog Hunt
When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 24, 25, and 26, 2008.
Where: Hillside National Wildlife Refuge near Yazoo City, MS.(You will also be able to hunt Panther Swamp NWR if you desire.
Who is eligible: All current MBA members in good standing. As a MBA member you can invite a guest/friend, (we will expose your guest to the benefits of MBA membership and maybe we can get them to 'sign-up').

'Hunt Headquarters': For R/V and travel trailer bowhunter participants, arrangements have been made with the Yazoo Bowhunters Association to use their Archery Range for our Hunt Headquarters. (Electrical hook-ups [110 volts], Water [to fill R/V fresh water tanks], a rest room and a sewage dump outlet will be available), tent camping is an encouraged option [but no shower facility will be on the premises however]. RV hookups for electrical service and water will be $15 per day. A waste dumpster line will be available for RVs. Finallly...the Saturday evening meal will be provided for all attending MBA bowhunters, their families and guests. MBA Area Director John Ledbetter will be preparing and cooking the Saturday evening meal for all the bowhunting attendees and their families. If you weren't able to attend the 2007 MBA Deer Hunt, you'll really want to mark your calendar now to attend the 2008 Annual Mississippi Bowhunters Deer/Hog Hunt! Online Directions to Hillside National Wildlife Refuge Take Highway 49E approximately 16 miles north of Yazoo City to Thornton, MS. Turn right (east) on Thornton Road and travel approximately 4 miles to the refuge. There is no staffed office on Hillside National Wildlife Refuge.

Enclose a money order or cashiers check payable to USFWS (no personal checks will be accepted) which includes $12.00 for each permit requested. Permits will be available beginning August 1, 2008. There is no deadline for obtaining Refuge Annual Public Use Permits. Refuge Annual Public Use Permits expire on July 31, 2009.

With each issued permit there will be maps of all the National Wildlife Refuges in the Theodore Roosevelt NWR Complex .
