Tiffany and Lee Lakosky
Lee Lakosky grew up hunting in the Minnesota wilderness where, back then, whitetails came few and far between. Believe it or not, Lee hunted for seven consecutive years without seeing one buck. Tiffany Profant who was also born and raised in Minnesota was introduced to hunting by Lee in 2000. In the same year, Tiffany killed her first buck, a Minnesota six-point, which became her first trophy and she was hooked from that moment on.
When the couple exchanged their vows in 2003 they decided to make their move to Iowa to build their life together around hunting whitetail deer. Since then Lee & Tiffany have both killed more record book whitetails than most hunters could ever dream about.
Of course it was not that simple. Lee & Tiffany chose this life long before anyone knew who they were, and it took hard work to establish their farm and a strict whitetail management program. In order to pursue this dream, Lee had to leave behind his career as a chemical engineer. "Life in Iowa is all about blood, sweat and tears when it comes to pursuing your dreams and pursuing big whitetails", says Tiffany Lakosky, who worked for Northwest Airlines as a flight attendant while helping Lee on their farm.
Lee & Tiffany developed a "let them go, let them grow" campaign. They continue to pass on big bucks for a reason. "To get a great buck you must pass on a really good buck. It is not about the size of a buck's rack, but rather the age of the deer when it comes to managing your herd", says Lee Lakosky.
In 2003 the Lakosky's were approached by ScentLok Technologies to host a reality hunting show, Getting Close. By no means were they going to get rich as hosts, but it would help manage their hunting costs. The energetic and fast-paced editing style of the show fit the Lakosky's lifestyle well. In its first year, the show (http://www.outdoorchannel.com/Shows/TheCrush.aspx) became a huge success and the Lakosky's soon became a household name in the outdoor industry. Sure Lee & Tiffany share their private lives with the rest of the world but in doing so it has become the greatest decision they ever made. It has not only allowed them to spend nearly every day together doing what they love, but it has also provided them and their viewers a lifetime of experiences in the great outdoors. The couple loves to teach and entertain viewers of all ages as they continue to show the world that hunting with one you love can be a blessing and not a headache. Not only do Lee & Tiffany continue to regularly tag some of the best looking whitetails each year, but their fun attitude and magazine cover good looks has certainly impressed viewers.
